I have begun the process of winterizing the house and I am looking a list of tasks to make sure I don't miss anything.

Turn off the water to your outside hose bibs, then drain the bibs and leave the taps open for the winter. Water can freeze inside the pipes that lead to your outdoor taps and crack or burst the pipes. In our house, there are shut-off valves for the exterior hose bibs in the basement, along the water pipes on the ceiling. You start by shutting off these valves so that water no longer flows to the outside hose bibs. Then you go outside and open the taps so that all the water drains out. Leave the outside taps in the open position during the winter. |

This would be a good time to seal in any cracks in the driveway, before ice forms and makes them worse over the winter. |

If you have a natural gas furnace, now would be a good time to replace the air filters. |

To add to the furnace filter answer: If you have a humidifier too, it also has a filter that you might want to replace. |
